Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
During his speech at the 'Karyakarta Mahakumbh' in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched a frontal attack on the Congress party. He accused the Congress of years of misrule and corruption in the state before the BJP came to power, warning that a return of the Congress would turn Madhya Pradesh into a 'Bimaru' state, a term used to denote economically lagging regions.
"The BJP government in Madhya Pradesh has completed almost 20 years. This means the youths who will be voting for the first time in the upcoming elections, have only seen the BJP government. They are fortunate that they haven't seen the bad governance of Congress in Madhya Pradesh," PM Modi said, encouraging young first-time voters to consider the BJP's track record and avoid voting for the Congress.
He also criticized the Congress for its past rule in Madhya Pradesh, alleging that the state, once prosperous, was turned into a 'bimaru' state during Congress governance. He claimed that the opposition parties will try to divide 'Naari Shakti', or women's power, urging them to stay united and not fall prey to Congress's "divisive politics".
In a subtle dig at Rahul Gandhi, the Prime Minister said Congress leaders who are born with silver spoon have transformed agricultural land into picnic areas and the struggles of the underprivileged into a photo session opportunity.
